E-Stim

What & How?

E-Stim is a great complementary therapy to touch in the realm of pain reduction. Whether you’re recovering from general injury, a sudden stroke, dealing with fibromyalgia pain, or another condition, you may benefit from a physical therapy procedure called Electrical Stimulation, also known as E-Stim. This aid sends mild electrical pulses that mimic the action of signals that come from neurons present in our own nervous systems. These pulses pass through the skin & target either muscles or nerves.

  • Targeting Muscle — can help stimulate an injury region & minimize pain. By targeting specific muscles, E-Stim makes them contract & release rapidly. The repeated contraction improves blood flow thus helping repair injured muscles.

  • Targeting Nerves manipulates them to also reduce pain. The Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator (TENS) is for re-educating muscles, reducing spasms, increasing blood flow, helping atrophy issues. This unit sends painless electrical signals through the electrodes under your skin to the nerves.

Electrodes (sticky patches) are placed on your skin. Electrode placement depends on the type & location of your pain. These mild & safe electrical signals help control pain whether muscular or neural. While E-Stim may not be appropriate or necessary for everyone, this painless procedure accelerates recovery & provides relief from painful or uncomfortable symptoms for many!
